Make:    SS 100 3½ litre

Year:    1939

Details:    WORKS TEAM RALLY CAR

This must be the ultimate SS 100 for any collector or investment.  Prepared by the factory along with two other cars using consecutive registration and chassis numbers EHP 201, EHP 202 and this car EHP 203.  Mr Tommy Wisdom was given the drive in 203 to compete in the 1939 RAC Rally.  They came second beaten only by the BMW Frazer Nash team by a few seconds.  Some excellent period reports and photos from the Motor Magazine are in the history file describing Tommy Wisdom's performance in 203 as "spectacular" setting various fastest times.  The car has had an extremely cosseted life since leaving the ownership of Jaguars spending much of its life in the hands of a very keen enthusiast in South Africa.  It was known to be in Rhodesia in 1956 and later in 1989 returned to England in a totally original and sound condition.  A fastidious and fanatical restoration then took place making sure every single panel and piece of wood was retained finishing it off to the original team cars colour.  This is how the car still is today having spent most of its later time in a private collection.

Fully matching numbers and everything as it left SS Cars Ltd even the original bronze bodied competition carburettors are still fitted.  Competition shock absorbers and vented brake drums.  This car is extremely powerful giving 150 b.h.p on the rolling road.  It is undoubtedly the best driving SS 100 we have ever had the pleasure to drive.  Currently the holder of the "Appleyard Trophy" of the Jaguar Driver's Club and also used by Jaguar Cars for display purposes at various prestigious events over the last two years.  Both the investment and enjoyment potential of this vehicle must be second to none.
